FAQs

FPV Drone filming is pretty new; so questions are natural. We encourage you to stay curious and ask questions. If you are unable to find the answer you’re looking for, please reach out to us- we’d love to have a conversation.

FPV is the abbreviation of First-person View, in terms of drones. FPV drones are (typically) small drones that are controlled by pilots using digital FPV goggles. The pilot sees what the drone sees, allowing them to capture immersive footage. This, aided by the small and nimble drone, allows the pilot to capture extremely captivating videos.

FPV drones are used to showcase restaurants, real estate listings, hotels, hospitals, offices, event venues, or any other space really.

FPV drones have multiple uses. They can be used to conduct inspections with moderate success. They are used in sports such as FPV racing, where pilots compete to finish a time-trial. But the more impressive application is FPV drone filming. In the UAE, we’ve been using FPV drones to create captivating and enthralling videos that give the viewers a real sense of space and environment.

FPV may just yet be the most immersive form of visual communication. In the digital age, potential customers are keen on conducting their own research before making a decision-be it a purchase or a visit. FPV drone videos allow you to give your viewers a real sense of the place and vibe.

The main advantage of FPV drones is their ability to drive engagement. The dynamic nature of FPV drones enables you to take creative and incredibly immersive shots.

Yes, in the UAE, it is legal to fly FPV drones with the right permits.

Given the small size of the drones, they are limited in battery life—a typical FPV drone can sustain a 3 minute flight. However, they easily make up for the limited flight time in flight speed.

You can use FPV drones to film your real estate rentals, display your restaurant’s impressive kitchen and seating, exhibit experiences and attractions from museums to entertainment centres, present your venue and all its amenities, or even give a tour of your office for prospective hires and clients! If you’ve got a space, FPV filming can make it standout.

If it’s an indoor shoot, the only government permit necessary is the Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC) permit.

The DFTC permit, as of May 2022, costs 530 AED.

One of the newest trends in real estate is using drones to take awesome aerial images, which provides a unique perspective when it comes to featuring property. You have outdoor drones which are used to establish a sense of size and, more importantly, the neighborhood. Then use indoor drones to build trust with your clients by providing an immersive and engaging experience. Use Drone Reality Tours to your advantage and host a 24/7 virtual open house.

An FPV drone is particularly useful when you have a large space. It allows potential visitors to see all sides of the property, allowing them to get a real feel of the place. With an FPV drone, you can put your amenities on display with aerial and dynamic shots.

You cannot fly a drone over the general population. However, on our staged shoots, the people in the shoot are associated with the shoot (they are either paid actors, employees or crew). In this situation, it is okay for the drone to fly over the people in the shoot.

This largely depends on the size of the venue. A typical FPV drone shoot lasts for about 2-3 hours. This increases with either the number of venues or size.

We first start with a reconnaissance mission of the venue to establish our flight path. This helps us plan in advance and avoid any surprises while flying. The main things we’re looking out for are protruding obstacles. Next up, we brief the people who will be in frame on how to conduct themselves when working near drones to ensure everyone’s safety.

Typically, it takes 4-5 working days to obtain the DFTC permit.
